The Rogue Trader softcover rulebook from 1987 is something special to me. This is what started tabletop gaming and miniature painting for me, back in the early 90’s. What sticks to me until this day is the love for those tiny metal miniatures, mostly what we call “beakie marines” these days. I had already started to collect 2nd edition codices and chaos miniatures, but it where those cool beakie metal guys, that I really wanted to collect, build and field in small skirmish games. Not those Warhammer 40K games we know from today – maybe more small skirmish style, like Necromunda or Kill Team.
So I started to buy my first miniature. Most of them have a name, and this one is Captain Newmar. In the old Citadel Compendium he had been painted in Legion of the Damned colors. I decided to field him as a Blood Angel, just to challenge myself and dig into painting various shades of red.
More came after Captain Newmar, and I will try to get at least two squads of 10 ready, but he will be the first. For ever.
